American journalists should be thankful that my rightwing cronies and I don’t get our way. Because if it was up to us, those ungrateful tratiors would all be dead, in jail or awaiting execution like the journalists in Egypt and India and Lebanon.
On a personal note, my apologies for the lack of posts lately. My whole family has the flu so I probably won’t be doing too much blogging for a while.
Hope you’re all having a great Thanksgiving

For those who didn’t have the stomach to read Malkin’s article, there’s something that bears emphasis. Malkin suggests that American journalists should appreciate how lucky they are, and she lists several countries where she believes conditions are particularly bad: “Give thanks we don’t live in Bangladesh, where you can be put on trial for writing columns supporting Israel and condemning Muslim violence… Give thanks we don’t live in Egypt, where bloggers have been detained by the government for criticizing Islam and exposing the apathy of Cairo police to sexual harassment of women… Give thanks we don’t live in Sudan… Give thanks we don’t live in China… Lebanon… Russia… Give thanks we don’t live in Denmark… Give thanks we don’t live in Italy…”
Anyone notice something missing from the list?
There is no mention of Iraq.
Not a word about the country that the Committee to Protect Journalists called “deadliest conflict for journalists in a quarter-century,” and “the deadliest war for journalists since CPJ was founded in 1981.” (http://www.cpj.org/attacks05/pages05/aop05_release.html).
Oh, sure, maybe things are a tiny bit imperfect for you Iraqi journalists. But hey, it could be worse. You could be in *Denmark*. Horror of horrors!
While I agree Malkin is a hate filled moron. This quote disturbed me.

This is made to look like a quote from Malkin. But I can’t find anywhere she wrote it.
Malkin is a BIG IDIOT so why do you need to make up quotes.
Of if I’m wrong where does this quote appear?
Hi Johnathan,
It’s not a quote and it was not my intention to represent it as such. My apologies if that wasn’t clear.
The use of “shorter” (i.e. “Shorter Michelle Malkin” as used here) is blog-speak for “Here’s what so-and-so’s long, spittle-flecked screed really boils down to”.
Do a google search for “shorter Michelle Malkin” or “shorter (insert wingnut of your choice)” and you’ll get the gist.
Anyway, in this case, Malkin wrote a long post lecturing American journalists that they should be thankful they live in America because awful things happen to journalists in some other countries. But Malkin and many of her rightwing colleagues have been known to call for imprisonment and sometimes even execution of certain American journalists.
