Michelle Malkin is an Idiot
Michelle Malkin is a bigger victim than you!

Michelle Malkin is upset about the Kathy Sierra controversy.

The techblogging elite, liberal femme bloggers, and their friends in the MSM are still yammering amongst themselves about the Kathy Sierra incident. Bloggers’ code of conduct. Civility badges. Blah blah blah.

No, she’s not upset about the death threats and hate mail Kathy Sierra received. She’s upset because she feels she hasn’t gotten her fair share of the media spotlight.

I don’t remember The Guardian asking Kate O’Beirne to pen an op-ed for them about Hamsher’s filthy attack on her. No one put our pictures in the NYTimes for weathering epithets, sexist putdowns and death threats–many of which, unlike Sierra’s, were signed and endorsed by major bloggers–and not just random, obscure, anonymous commenters.

How dare they lavish so much attention on a politically neutral tech blogger while ignoring poor, conservative Michelle Malkin! Everyone should know by now that the hate mail Malkin receives is far, far worse than any hate mail received by any human being in the history of history! And, “unlike Sierra’s” death threats, Michelle’s “death threats were signed and endorsed” by “many” “major bloggers”! (although she doesn’t name them or link to any of them). Plus, Michelle Malkin didn’t get her picture in the New York Times! Oh the humanity!!!!!!!111

Now I’m not making light of the racist, misogynistic emails that Michelle Malkin claims to have received, nor do I think she “deserved it”. Some of the emails/comments she has reprinted are absolutely disgusting and I wholeheartedly condemn those kinds of attacks, whether they’re directed at conservatives or liberals.

I just think it’s hilarious how, when an apolitical tech blogger receives death threats, Michelle Malkin somehow manages to perceive herself as the real victim.

And notice how she consistently refuses to be outdone in her victimhood:

“The death threats Sierra received are no worse than I’ve received since starting this blog.” [LINK]

“The attacks I face every day — in e-mail, on the airwaves, and in person — are far more vicious in nature than most conservative journalists receive because I also happen to be a woman and a minority. ” [LINK]

“While they whine about the death threats that SAW organizers allegedly received, you should see the filth and threats against my family that their minions are sending” [LINK]

“I’ll show you 100 liberal hate mails and blog posts referring to me as a “gook” or a “chink” or a “filipina whore” for every 1 “raghead” controversy on the right.” [LINK]

“But the key difference between [Margaret] Cho’s hate mail and mine is profound. None of her detractors accused her of selling out her race. And unlike me, she is beloved by the Asian-American elite.” [LINK]

See what I mean? For someone who claims to reject “identity politics”, she sure does seem comfortable identifying herself as the martyred, permanent victim.

  1. Good article. Please keep them coming.

  2. I don’t appreciate the way Michelle Malkin seems to shun her ethnic identity and then victimize herself as a target of many liberals because she’s a “minority.” I guess Michelle herself does not identify as anything but American (which is a nationality and different from one’s ethnicity). It’s possible to be American and a minority but she doesn’t identify as a minority outside the context of being a victim. The reason she gets zero love from the Asian-American community is because of her lack of understanding of the Asian-American experience, and worse, her denial of her ethnic identity. Or maybe I should say absence of pride or recognition of it. In America, Asian-Americans, no matter how “American” they may be and regardless of how they identify themselves, are still seen as a racial other and not completely or solely “American.” This is part of the reason why Michelle, though not one to proudly display her ethnicity, receives hate mail with racial slurs. Being a victim alone will not win over the sympathy of Asian-Americans. Not unless Michelle becomes an advocate of Asian-American issues. Then maybe I’d consider it…then know better!

  3. Love what you’re saying passerby. The only time this woman pulls out the “race card” is if it’s gonna make liberals look bad. Look what happened with Rosie’s “ching chong” incident. A liberal does something ignorant(mind you, it HAS to be a liberal), and now she’s an advocate for Asian-Americans for the next 15 minutes. Obviously we’re not buying it.

“Asian-American elite”? That’s the closest I’ve ever heard of her refering to to the Asian American community as anything profound. 🙂 Honestly, I’m wondering if the day will come when she critisizes any of us APA activists full throttle. I do wonder exactly how much she recognizes who we are and the greater impact we’ve been creating and still creating. Or maybe I’m just asking for trouble. 😛
